Default 2009 Accord LX very loud engine

Hi, I don't know much about cars. I've owned a 94 and 07 Accord and never experienced noise like this before. I know that this model is known for its road noise but lately the engine has been extremely loud.

Any time it accelerates, it sounds like one of those rice mobiles with the huge mufflers except the noise is coming from the engine. Even if I'm going 10mph, it sounds like a loud roar. When I release the gas, there is also a loud roar before coming to a stop. I drove my friend in it for the first time and he thought the car was 15 years old! It was quiet until about 95k miles. It has 100k miles now. I had the serpentine belt and air filters replaced at 85k miles, would that have anything to do with it? When I go in for oil changes, the mechanic says the car is in good shape, although I didn't ask about the noise specifically.

A cracked exhaust manifold or leaking exhaust joint can cause added noise. Have inspected by muffler shop.

good luck

Although it's been about 10,000 miles since the air filter was changed, check if the air cleaner housing cover was re-installed correctly. There are guide tabs that suppose to go under the slots. If not, it can leave an air gap in the air cleaner housing.
