2012 Accord Hard Start and Engine Light On
Hey guys,
So recently I noticed that it takes several attempts to start the car (2-3 tries) and engine and traction control lights are on. Reading the codes I get a P062F and a 83-11 codes.
Below is a list of what I've done so far:
1 - replaced battery, old one was 6yrs old and not holding charge one day to the next. Measured 14.4V across battery with engine running.
2 - cleaned negative battery strap, as I was having some contact resistance to the chassis.
3 - measured ECM grounds, battery voltage and 5V supply.
4 - measured CAN wires resistance from ABS to ECM, battery voltage and ground at ABS module.
The freeze frames associated to the codes above show some questionable (to me) parameter statuses:
For code P062F:
F Injector
0.00ms
I read this as no pulse at fuel injectors, hence no start.
For code 83-11:
INHIBIT FLAG STATUS FROM PCM
INHIBITED
COMMU_PCM (COMMUNICATION STATUS)
Failed
On the last one, since all other communication statuses show "Normal" I'm reading this as failed/no communication between ABS and PCM modules.
I wanted to test the ABS module (raise the wheel and activate ABS) as the next step, to see if the failed PCM comms above is indeed true.
Any ideas on how to tackle this further, it seems I am dancing around the issue here?

Well, I was able to solve the hard start by replacing the spark plugs. It seems I've gotten counterfeit plugs off of Amazon back in Sept 2025 when I did the 100K service on the car. The new plugs had maybe 1K miles on them and central electrode was totally worn out. No more Amazon car parts for me.
It's amazing that no one has had this problem nor heard of it on this forum. I was able to search on another forum and the spark plug issue came right up. I wish Jim Blake was still around.
