Default 7th gen accord, new A/C clutch won't engage unless jumped. System is charged

I have been trudging my way through A/C repair on my 2006 v6 ex 6 speed. The system has a new compressor, receiver dryer, expansion valve and working relays. When I turn the A/C on the clutch won't engage. I charged the system by jumping the terminal with a piece of wire. I'm stumped as to what my next step should be. The air is nice and frosty if I jump the compressor to force it on. Any ideas?

There's pressure switches to shut off the system when the refrigerant pressure is too low or too high. Do you know that the pressure is OK (proper weight of refrigerant? or just charged until it runs?)? If so maybe one of the pressure switches isn't working or doesn't have a good connection to the circuit.

The common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum has a link to read HVAC diagnostic codes on the 03-07 accords. Post any codes you find on here.

There are no HVAC error codes and the refrigerant is loaded to manufacturer spec

The symbol is a diode, so it'll be directional. Does the plug/socket allow it to be reversed? Hopefully the plug is directional so it can only be plugged in one way.
