Default 87 Accord sputtering

Car idles high and misses at accell. Fuel Inj. engine. The PGM-FI lite is on in the instrument cluster. 12 blinks on the readout. Dont know what that means for sure. No cat. Cleaned EGR valve and checked it. Seems to be working fine. Doesn't leak but could it be worn out? 233,000 miles. Changed fuel pump last year. TIA!

What is the history of the car.....reg maint items?

So you pull the fuse and reset the ecu. The same code comes back?

Why was the "cat" removed, anything else removed or blocked off?

Cats off because it rusted off and i didnt put it back on. Nothing else is removed or added on. This is just a drive to work car nothin fancy. I will reset ecu and check code again. As far as maint goes I change oil and all that good stuff.

Maintenance: How about spark plugs (age, type)? Distributor cap, rotor, plug wires OK? I suspect that's what Poorman was thinking about.

Yep.....reading my mind

OP- yes the #12 is for the egr. If the code comes back, there is testing to be done....please don't replace anything without testing for what is wrong. There are solenoids, hoses and other things that you need to confirm are working/not working
