Unhappy 92 accord randomly shuts off while driving

have 92 accord 183000 miles.just signed up,have read posts before signing up, about this issue, replaced main relay due to starting problems in hot weather. fuel delivery is not affected.after shutting off will start right back up after a few minutes, notice on previous posts, coil and igniter can cause this, did continuity test on coil, 3 places to test, 2 were within parameters, primary reading is supposed to be between .6-.8,iam getting .4, checked it when outside temp was 70, does that mean coil is bad, have not checked igniter yet,do not want to throw money at it, notice one poster always says diagnose before you replace, car is getting towards end of life, can not afford to buy another car yet, any info or help would be gretly appreciated

See if you can get it to stall by wiggling the key. Flaky ignition switches are not rare.

Meanwhile, I'll move this over to General Tech. where it belongs. You posted in the area for questions about how to work the website, not car-questions.

When it shuts off, do the warning lights (battery, oil, check-engine) come on or go out? How about other electrics?

If it stalls by wiggling the switch, that confirms a bad switch. Since it won't stall that way, it does NOT prove the switch is good.

You say it starts back up after a few minutes. Does it NOT start immediately? If it doesn't, THAT is the time to check for lack of spark vs. lack of fuel. Or inoperative starter.
