93 accord creak/tick noise after replacing timing belt
Hi guys,
So recently, the timing belt snapped off while I was driving on the freeway. I was hoping it didn't badly damage the valve, but based on my neighbor who works on car, everything looks okay and he went on to replace the old timing belt.
One thing I notice is when I'm at a stoplight, when I begin to step on the gas pedal, there is a slight quick creak/tapping/popping noise (can also feel it) when I drive off. It's hard to describe the noise but think of it like popping out plastic screws. At first, I thought it could be one of the valve is slightly bent but it would be making the sound continuously if it is bent (especially on idle), if I'm not mistaken.
Any clue to this?

Sounds are really hard to figure out here?
Without hearing it, all we can do is give additional ideas....and lots of them.
Could be a bent valve?
Could be the t-belt idler is not on properly.
Could be something in the brakes, sticking caliper?

Did you examine the valves to see if any were sticking low (very large gap when measured w/ piston at TDC)? If you didn't you likely wasted timing belt installation. Engine pistons will hit valves when timing is lost and bent valve or two is almost inevitable.
You should be able to tell if valve is bent from examination.
good luck

The car was at his shop so I didn't get a chance to examine it from my point of view. He did mention one of the valve was slightly bent, so I'm assuming that could be it. After today, for some reason the noise went away. I'll probably have him inspect it again just to make sure.
Thanks for the info guys
