Default 93, Blower Motor

The blower motor in my 93 doesn't run on any speed. How likely is it that I will have to replace the motor?

I am not great at electrical troubleshooting, and have very few tools for doing any testing. I can't afford to take it somewhere to have it looked at. I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Do you have a volt meter?

A volt meter would be best, a test light will do.....last if you have two pieces of wire you could put voltage to the pins on the motor and see if it spins.

I don't have a volt meter, but do have a test light. Do I go after the motor from under the hood, or the dash?

Under the dash on the pass side. You should see the blower motor housing and a two pin connector going to it.

The YEL/BLK wire should be "hot" when the key is on and the **** is on. So with your test light on this wire, find a ground (metal body panel). If it lights up, you have power.

Now you need to test for ground from the resistor. Turn the blower to high. Connect the test light to both wires to the motor - does it light up?

If it does then power and ground are coming to the motor and you have a blower going bad. You might be able to "tap" on the motor with a screwdriver handle or something and get it to work....maybe a minute, maybe a month....who knows.

Please do the tests as outlined as there are fuses, relays that send power. The blower resistor controls the ground. So we are try to test for three things here. Power, ground, motor.

Thanks for coming back with the answer

Too many times we never know what happened/resolved the issue.

If you don't mind, did you replace it or have some one do it? If you did it can you give some insight on how you did it.....there is a bit of discussion which way to go about this.

I did it myself, however I don't know if I can offer much advice, I fought the thing the entire way, and cracked the dash. I am no good at working under a dash anymore I guess
