94 ex won't stay running
Ok. A couple of weeks ago my ex died on me while driving down the street. It was running fine but then when I pressed the gas it bogged down then died. I pulled over to the side of the road, waited 5mins, then it started back up fine. It died again after another 5mins of driving. I did this all the way home. Its been sitting for a couple of weeks and now it will start for a millisecond and then die. My mechanic thinks it may be the ECU or the fuel pump but I know the fuel pump is working. Not sure what else it could be. Any ideas?
If all dash lights (Alt, Oil Pressure, Check Engine) went off when engine stopped, the ignition switch assy may be the problem.
When you attempt to restart, first turn keyswitch to ON, and listen for fuel pump to run 3 secs and go off. If you hear fuel pump and no start continues, then ignition problem is more likely. If you don't hear fuel pump, and no start continues, the Main Fuel Relay is likely the problem (under dash on driver's side near radio).
good luck

Suggest following test to confirm fuel or fire is missing.
When no-start occurs, spray 5-10 secs of starter fluid or throttle body cleaner into intake air duct just behind filter. Attempt to start.
If it starts and runs briefly, then spark is fine but fuel delivery is missing.
If it doesn't start spark is missing; either power to distributor, faulty ignitor, or faulty coil.

Ok. I had the battery charged which autozo me still says is bad. I put back in the car and it fired right up. I let it run for about 10mins and everything sounded fine. When I gave it some gas, the engine bogged down almost like it was gonna die but it didn't. I know my negative battery cable isn't on as tight as it should be cause I couldn't tighten it down. Could this be the cause?
