Default 94 Transmission problems

Hey all, so just recently I was driving on the freeway and my car wouldn't stay in 5th gear AT ALL! Very annoying.. I've never been one to drive my car hard, and I've done alot of research but no difinitive answers yet. So here's what I've found; could be the tranny, tranny fluid, synchros, or shift linkage...

If anyone has any advice or better knowledge than myself please let me know.
( hopefully it's not the tranny)

Did you notice anything strange with the D4 light? Wouldn't hurt to check for codes, on this car all you need is a paperclip to jump the service connector to chaeck for codes.

Anything recent done to the car?

Yes check the fluid, if you are not sure when it was last changed I would suggest at least one drain and fill with Honda Fluid....if it gets better than two more drain and fills.

Manual transmission....
Unless it's a manual swapped into an automatic car, there is no D4 lamp.

I've heard of popping out of gear because of mis-adjusted shift linkage, for the most part it comes down to the transmission isn't "all the way in" to 5th even tho the shift lever is all the way forwards.

I guess look at the shift cable connections? I haven't had them apart on an Accord, so can't be very specific. Loose bushings where the cable attaches to the lever at either end of the cable? Something in the console blocking the lever from going all the way forward when you shift into 5th?

Fluid change sure won't hurt, how long has it been?

Maybe a worst-case would be bent shift-fork inside the trans?

if you are low on fluid, 5th will pop out. Check that **** first.
