Two possibilities are faulty distributor (bad parts do happen), or faulty ECM. This later posssibility seems unlikely since you did not have code 9 prior to replacing the distributor.

Suggest checking sensor resistance at the distributor connector. Resistance of the Orn and Wht wires (pins 4 & 8) should be 350-700 ohms for F22B2 engine which you have.

If resistance is good, then repeat check on same wires at ECM connector. If good again, the ECM is faulty.

If resistance is out of range at distributor, the distributor sensor is faulty and another distributor is required. If resistance is out of range at the ECM, a wiring fault between ECM and distributor connector is indicated.

Sorry for your problems. Is this a new or used distributor?

good luck

This is a new distributor. Not used or refurbished.

One thing I do remember is that when taking the connectors off the old distributor (which was a bitch because it was stuck from being there 20 years) I cracked the casing of the larger of the two connectors.

Also, how do I reset the CEL? Just remove the fuse for a few minutes?

Pull BackUp fuse in underhood fuse box for 15-20 secs to reset ECU, or use obd2 scanner to reset.

good luck
