97 2.0ls Auto: hard to start when on a hill?
Hi
This is our first Honda, having owned thousands of cars in the past but decided we needed ultra reliability for when my 300tdi defender is off road.
The Honda has a full service history and is currently at 62K it starts, drives and stops as it should however when we park it pointing up hill (or even on a slight gradient) the engine turns over but doesn't fire, I fairly sure the fuel is draining back to the tank but where do I start looking?
Any ideas would be very helpful!
Many thanks
James.

Does engine eventually start or won't start until car is leveled?
Suggest turning ignition switch to On position and listen for fuel pump to run 2-3 secs and go off, then try starting.
It may be that static fuel pressure is decaying w/ engine off and more time is req'd to get fuel pressure w/i start limits; probably at least 30 psi.
Not sure how uphill inclination of vehicle would contribute to this problem. Leakdown could be caused by leaking injector, leaking fuel pressure regulator, or leaking check valve at fuel pump (must be one to hold pressure, but shop manual doesn't show it).
good luck
