Default 97 Honda V6 Oil Leak

Oil is leaking from somewhere under the distributor... Its not leaking IN it, but under it, causing oil to get all over the bottom of the cap...

Ideas?

an oring goes around the distributor shaft sealing off oil from leaking ... just pick up another distributor oring

x2 on the distributor o-ring. Could be valve cover gasket. Has any recent work been done on your car not long before you noticed the oil leak?

negative on valve cover. I bought two new ones thinking it may be one of those, but in the wrong location. - they werent leaking

Now the side cover gasket is leaking as well (v6)

I bought this thing and it was already covered in oil

When I bought a new distributor cap to put on, the old one was very very dirty on the bottom.

I cleaned out the inside of the housing for the rotter, I'll double check to see if its leaking from under or in, but Im thinking under

Oh, if it's leaking in the inside then you need the inner seal as well in addition to the oring that goes around the shaft. You will need to see if it's a hitachi or tec as they both take a different internal seal.
