Default 97 lx 5 speed losing power

I have a 97 i4 5 speed with around 170,000 miles. When accelerating between 1500 and 2800 rpm there is a loss of power not much but enough to notice. I will pick back up over 2800. I have put and wires also a new air filter but didn't fix the problem any suggestions.

There is a link to cleaning the EGR ports. There are some writeups and a link to a video on how to do this.

Alright done that it seems to be doing a little bit better but now it feels more like it's missing when I accelerate. It feels like lt misses sometimes while idling. I checked to see if there was oil leaking into the spark plug holes but it's not. Once I'm going a steady speed I don't feel it do it anymore.

Missing will set DTC's. Is Check Engine Light ever on? If not, missing has not been detected.

Does this only happen when fully warmed and car runs OK while cold?

If yes, replacing the primary (forward of converter) O2 sensor has cured drivability problems in some cases.

If you have access to an advanced scanner, check Long Term Fuel Trim (LTFT) to see if it shows a trend (higher + or - trim).

good luck
