I know there are known problems with these transmissions. I'm kind of in a crunch to find a car for my daughter, otherwise I'd spend some time researching here. How high of a percentage are the bad ones? Is there a mileage that once it makes it past its good? I'm looking at '98 and '99 with around 150k to 180k miles. I appreciate any insight.

 

I don't believe anyone really would know the percentage of ones with bad automatic transmissions. The V6 had more issues with the automatic transmissions than the 4 cylinders.

Try to see if the previous owner did routine maintenance and kept records.

 

I test drove two Accords, a '98 and an '01. They both exhibited shifting irregularities, so I ended up buying an '05 Nissan Altima that drove perfectly.
