Angry '99 EX V6 C.E.L. codes P0706 and P1457

Hey Everyone.

So here is the situation so far:

About a week ago, I replaced the vapor canister purge solenoid, the vent shut valve, and the two-way valve on the EVAP system to get rid of a P0420 (Catalyst System efficiency below threshold). After resetting the system and driving about 85 miles, these two codes came up:

P0706: (Open in transmission range switch circuit)
P1457: (EVAP emission control system leak detected [control canister system])

I am really asking about the first code. I know it can be a number of things and I just need some help troubleshooting. The car runs and shifts perfectly - no shudders or anything at all.

The second one just pisses me off. I fixed all of those parts, so maybe I did something wrong / something came loose. I am going to inspect my work and if I don't find anything, I'll try a new gas cap maybe.

I really need some help with this transmission circuit though, any help is very appreciated.

not seeing code P0706, but P1706 is for the trans range switch, have to do the continuity test for the switch first...if it's bad, replace it. as far as the EVAP sys code, go back and double check all your original work first.

I double checked the work as you suggested and found no unplugged hoses, missing parts, bolts, etc. and found nothing wrong. Could have also been a loose gas cap, i'll reset the computer and see if it comes back.

If I have a bad switch, wouldn't I feel a problem in shifting? It shifts very smoothly. I will do the continuity test (I have a Haynes manual) but I need to get my hands on a multimeter first.

Ok I checked for continuity and the position sensor is fine, everything works as expected. I looked up some diagrams and I was wondering if maybe the fact that I put aftermarket LED's in my dash could be causing this error code? This sensor is connected to that column of lights in the dash cluster and I am wondering if the new bulbs I put in are throwing off the circuit.
