Default AC problem

I have a 2002 accord EXV6. The ac and the heater stopped working. I checked the freon pressure, it's good. All the fuses are working so do the fans, when I turn on the ac the compressor kicks in for a few seconds then shuts off. What could the problem be?

If compressor engages and runs only for a few secs, I would suspect a blockage; expansion valve failed closed or debris blocking expansion valve. When pressure builds to hi pressure cut-out, the AC pressure switch opens to prevent overloading the compressor.

To confirm, you need a set of ac manifold gauges to monitor system pressure when system is actuated. Amazon and Harbor Freight sell some inexpensive set. I've had an Interdynamics gauge set for years that has served me well. There are many choices and price levels.

good luck

Yeah, a proper gauge set so you can measure high-side and low-side pressure both while it's running.
