AC Problem - 94 Honda Accord EX
Hello HAF,
This forum has been good to me, and I'm hoping this issue gets fixed as well...
1994 Honda Accord EX - ~260K miles
The AC in my Accord has slowly faded over the summer, and after getting it leak-tested, the culprit was found to be the condenser. I wasn't surprised being that it was the original. I had it replaced, and recharged. AC worked great after!
A day and a half later, I noticed the AC no longer worked. When I engaged the AC, fans and compressor would engage and the sound in the dashboard would persist (sort of like clearing the drain tube..?). This was this past weekend.
Today, I engaged the AC again but this time there was no fan or compressor engagement. Could this be because enough freon leaked out that there's not enough to trigger the AC pressure switch?
I am quite busy, so I will bring the car back to the shop to get the leak fixed again.

I agree w/ your assessment. It has a leak very likely. You can confirm by measuring system pressure. Pressure < 28 psi will cause pressure switch to remain closed.
Good candidates for leaks are compressor shaft seal, evaporator fittings (exp valve, and feed back line. I removed evap and replaced all orings when I overhauled my 94 ex (no longer owned).
good luck

Thank you TexasHonda for your response. Root cause found, the schrader value was bad after the hoses were disconnected for recharge. Which explains the zero pressure in the system and the compressor/fans not turning on. AC works great again!
