Default accord v6 tachometer gone crazy

Honda Accord 1995, V6 with 120,000 miles. Tachometer goes crazy 0 to 1500 and all over the place. If I turn the engine off and let it rest for a while it corrects the problem and then starts jumping all over the place.
What do I do to correct the problem?
Could this be an ignition coil problem?
Where do I start?

on the rt rear of engine comp by the shock tower there is a black plug 2 wires going to it,,( blue wires ) that's for the tach test plug , hook up a manual tach to it and see what the rpm do,,,,,,,,,,,,if they flactuate the problem is from there to ,,,,coil, ignitor, wiring . chk for possible loose connections, ., ......If rpm hold good,, the problem is from there to..... gauge, wiring ..

try and post results..
