Can the TCU be responsible for shifting issues off and on or would it be constant if the TCU were defective?
At issue 92 Accord gets stuck in 2nd gear. The light shows both D4 and what ever other gear I switch to. Sometimes it works other times not. I just replaced the upper solenoid because before if I tapped on it the trans would shift ok for awhile. Today worked fine halfway to work but then dropped into 2nd while going 60mph.

 

What codes are you getting?

 

I do not have a tool to read codes. I tried jumping the connector but did not get any lights flashing on the dash.


When I push on the brake I can hear the solenoid working in the lock out switch in the shifter.

 

Question; I replaced the top most solenoid on the transmission. (This is the one that when this problem first surfaced I tapped lightly which caused it to shift properly again. After awhile that stopped working altogether). The second, or lower solenoid, I did not replace. Would this show up differently on a code than the TCU?

 

It may be a bad TCU. Symptoms seem to match. See attached TSB's.

Thanks TexasHonda. I need to uncover the TCU and look for the LED. I am not able to bring anything up on the dash when I jump the Scanner Plug.
Today, running and shifting perfectly. Go figure.
