bought 2009 Accord last night...loud engine this morning!!

I sure hope the dealer will not charge you for that repair. My 05 accord was certified as well and I've not had to repair anything yet. Accords are good cars!

Sounds a lot like my 03 did, when the oring on the pump feed hose was leaking. You probably just have one bad oring, and they are going to change the pump for nothing. What would this have to do with the alternator, unless power steering fluid leaked onto the alternator? Otherwise, not related.

The only way I can imagine the PS and alternator being related is through the serpentine belt. PS fluid leaking all over the place, then the belt gets slippery & the alternator isn't turning. Or maybe leaking fluid drips directly onto the alternator. Either way, it's not some mystery connection.

Your mileage puts it out-of-warranty for the factory warranty. But since you JUST bought it, every dealer around here has at least 30-day or 60-day warranty on used cars.

But if they make you pay for a new pump, be certain that it's really a bad pump and not just the O-ring.
