Brake Light Switch.

W/ a multimeter you test by measuring either open circuit (leads not touching each) or short circuit (leads touched together). Note the readings when you do this and this will allow you to understand whether you are measuring a short or open when testing the switch.

ok i finally retested it and the switch does have continuity between both 1 and 4...and 2 and 3...So how do I adjust the switch?

Also because it's not adjusted properly is that why it's not showing up on the dash?

The switch is "threadded" with a lock nut.

alright i'll give this a try...it's going to be difficult to get all the way back there...

Sometimes the little rubber grommet rots and falls out. This will cause brake lights to stay on continuously, since switch would extend through the hole where rubber grommet should be. It's in the picture Poorman attached as far LH element.
