Default Car stuck in park

I have an 03 accord lx 2.4l V4. The other day my car would not go out of park. So I took apart the center console and my friend and I discover the shifter cable hanging when we got under the car. I replaced the shifter cable with one from Honda and the car worked fine for two days. Then last night when putting my center console back together it got stuck in park again. I read on here about brake light switch or shift solenoid. My brake lights work. If I watch it when trying to shift I can see the white piece not moving which allows it to shift.

Check the underdash #21 fuse (7.5 amp).

Since you already have the console off, with the car in park test the voltage/ground going to the shift lock. Also since you had to replace the cable be sure it is properly adjusted.

Thank you for the info! I'm helping a friend today with selling his car and won't have time today so I'll check these tomorrow. I actually needed new tires put on the car the other day so I took the console back apart and it seems to work perfect. I'm sure I just put it back together wrong so I'm gonna give it another shot tomorrow along with the fuse check and the shift lock.
