Default changing 2003 engine help

I have a 2003, with 112k miles on it. Same old story, was constantly adding oil over the past few months, timing chain jumped, valves are all damaged, engine not worth repairing(honda dealer), recommends engine replacement. $1300 labor, I can find an engine for around $1200 60k miles. Considering doing it myself with help. Does anyone know of any links to the procedure online? Also, with the newer engine, any recommendations to components I should change before I put it in. Any other tips from anyone who has done it? Thanks

big job, get yourself a complete service manual, you'll need it to fix all the stuff you break pulling the old motor and putting in the new one. i'd put a new waterpump on the new engine and just for giggles pull the timing chain cover and do a careful inspection of that. don't forget fluids, thermostat replacement, any hoses or belts, oil filter, may as well change the trans filter/fluid if it's an auto. anything that looks easier to do while it's apart should be done.

The factory service manual would be the best source, as it shows what needs to be disconnected, removed, etc. Automanualsource.com has a pdf version for $21.99 for download.

I have not seen on-line anyone that posted info. and pictures of the replacement of the 7th generation Accord (2003-2007) 4 cylinder. There is a thread on another forum where a guy shows pictures of his replacement of the V6; but, even he doesn't list any actual DIY detail (his thread is interesting in that his home garage has a car lift and he has more tools than the average DIYers).

You're going to have to remove the subframe during engine removal.

Autozone has pretty fair Vehicle Repair Guides that have instructions for engine R&R.
