Default Check Engine in Wi Cold

Hi,

I have a 2002 Honda Accord with 191,000 miles. The check engine and TCS lights just went on in 6 degree weather. Some of the symptoms are: when I put the car in park, the engine will rev between 1k and 2k rpms.

I appreciate any suggestions!

Jay

It could be many things. Best hope to solve problem is to go to Autozone and have obd2 codes extracted.

TCS light may be a separate issue from Check Engine Light, but sometimes are related.

Be sure to write down the code number Pnnnn and post them here for guidance.

good luck

Default I got codes- P0505

The autozone code said that it is a P0505 code which apparently is the idle air control. Is this something that is an immediate repair?

Anyone know possible solutions?

Thanks,

J

Most likely solution is to clean Idle Air Control Valve, throttle plate, and ports. Sticking valve can cause your symtoms.

See following link to TSB that may be applicable.

After cleaning reset ECM w/ OBD2 scanner and see if TCM code returns.

good luck

Default Check Engine Light Went Out

Just an update on my issue- the check engine went out about a day after I encountered the problem and the reving went away. I am guessing the problem was primarily due to the cold?!?!

Thanks for the help!
