clutch problem
I have a 2006 accord EX, manual transmission, approx. 102,000 mi. My dealer tells me that they think I need to get a new clutch, they say that they an tell that because you have to press the clutch pretty far down for it to engage. I cannot tell as I drive it daily and have so since I bought it new. Very expensive at this dealership: $1250. I don't trust them. Any comments about how long the clutch should last and accurate way of telling that you need a new one.
Thanks.
Thanks.

First off, the terminology is backwards. You press down the pedal do DISengage the clutch.
Second, when the clutch wears out, it disengages near the top, & eventually begins slipping.
When it disengages near the floor the first thing to suspect is air in the clutch's hydraulic system. Bleed the clutch to get fresh fluid in there with NO air bubbles. (You should do that every couple years.)
