clutch replacement help!?!

Default clutch replacement help!?!
I replaced the clutch on my 2000 honda accord & backed out of garage w/ no problem but when putting it in 1st gear got nothing. Assumed the axle slipped out but not sure. Had to push it back in the garage, what could have went wrong? What should I do?

Well... DID the axle pop out from the transmission?
