After addressing a parasitic amp draw, I then had steam coming from underneath the hood. The culprit seemed to be the upper radiator hose, because the end nearest the radiator was wet.

One radiator hose, two clamps and half a gallon of fresh coolant later, there is still steam coming from the engine compartment. Only the source isn't a leaky radiator hose.

The steam is coming from between the engine block and the exhaust manifold. And judging from the smell, it's obviously anti-freeze.

This isn't good, is it?

 

Make, model, options, and year of car?

 

Head gasket, thermostat housing, other coolant hoses...like shipo said, year and engine would be helpful.

 

It's a 1999 4 cylinder Accord LX coupe, automatic transmission.

Completely stock. No options.

 

A sealed system should be able to hold 15-16 psi for a long time (look at radiator cap for max pressure). If the system isn't holding pressure, you definitely have a leak.

Some parts stores have a radiator pressure tester as a loaner tool. When the engine is cold, pressurize the radiator to the number on the radiator cap and try to locate the leak. It should be easier to find vs the steam you see now.
