Rock Auto shows SMP NS158 cross references the Honda part numbers:28900-P7X-013 and 28900-P7X-003 for a V6.

Rock Auto shows SMP NS156 cross references the Honda part number 28900-P6H-013 for a 4 cylinder.

Edit: This other site show SMP NS156 as correct for your V6:

A 2001 does not have a gauge sending unit like the 98-99 Accords.
Same question? About the garage sending unit on 98 that I have. Snap-On scanner that I have says temp sensor voltage is at 257 F. And when you hit it with a laser temp gun it shows 198 Gage inside on dash shows half way up unplug it sensor and it still reads 257 degrees F.

Is your 1998 a V-6 or 4-cyl?

On the 4-cyl, the sender for the temperature gauge is separate from the sensor for the PCM and also separate from the fan switches. I imagine it's similar for the V-6 but I'm not sure.
