Crankshaft Bolt... Ugh
#11
I went to a tire shop and asked the guy to use his impact to break it free.He did, then tightened it back up decent for me to drive home. Was easy to remove then. This wasnt on my Honda but another car. When the time comes,I will do the same for the Honda.Let the shop loosen it for me before I take it all apart.I have an impact but it doesnt have the power to loosen bolts like that.

This is what I used ( 96 accord )
Powerbuilt 648796 Honda Crankcase Pulley Removal Tool - Amazon.com
you will need two 1/2 breaker bars. I then put a 6 ft 1 inch pipe around the breaker bar and with all my weight 180lbs rocking a bit on it, it finally broke free. I also put long pants, heavy coat, safety glasses on in case I went flying when it broke free.
I also put the spare tire on for stability with the wheel turned slightly to make room for the extension. Then used a jack stand to support the extension and pushed and pushed and pushed.

OK, I checked around with auto parts stores in my area, the only that had that crankshaft holding tool was O'Reilly, unfortunately, someone had picked it up 3.5 weeks and hadn't returned it.
So, I made one using a 1.5" pipe bushing (had to file a little off of the points of the hex) welded to a 2" wide piece of flat stock.
It took all I had on a cheater pipe that was probably nearly 6' long... And yes, I nearly went for a ride when that sucker finally broke loose.
Thanks to all for your help
