Default Cruise control doesn't work

My cruise control recently stopped working. When I push the button on the dashboard its green light comes on, but when I use the steering wheel controls nothing happens. The light above the gaugesdoes notcome on, and the cruise control does notengage.

Any idea where I should start? Since the light does notcome on I'm guessing the problem is electrical, not mechanical. I've worked on cruise control systems before, but never on an Accord.

Ideas?

Thanks,

I have the '02' Accord cruise test; should be the same.
The usual problem is the spool/reel contacts under the steering wheel.

Hondadude: Very helpful, thank you! I'll start testing the pins tomorrow when it warms up outside.

About the spool/reel contacts . . . I've suspected something like that because the steering wheel buttons usually took a few tries before the cruise would engage. Is that problem usually resolved by cleaning the contacts, or will I need to replace them?

Thanks again!

Unfortunatly it's a sealed unit that also contains the airbag contacts, and it's not cheap.
Around $50-60.
It has to be installed with the steering wheel centered as the unit only moves 1-1/2 turns in either direction.
