Default CV AXLE removal

I tried to replace the driver's side CV axle on my 98 LX auto. I was able to remove the axle from the hub but can't get it out from the tranny side. I have been reading from posts & manual that you only need a flat screw driver to pop it out. I tried but it would not budge. Is there a trick or special tool to remove it from the tranny side. Appreciate any help!

Search google for "jydxpsh13WQ" and click on the video. You can skip to around 6:30 to see the part you are having issues with.

You can also use a big flat chisel and hit it with a hammer, or pry bar and pop it out, try not to damage the axle seal.

That is exactly what I tried - a crow bar. But it won't come off.

I usually use a 4ft long pry bar lol, try use a flat head chisel with a hammer, sometimes rotate the axle will help.

If it hasnt been removed in a long while(guessing yours hasnt) I usually use a crow bar. It still takes a little muscle but it will come out.

sorry to revive an old thread - but i am having this exact problem as the OP on my 99 accord. the driver side was no problem, but the problem with the tranny side is it's way up there and very hard to reach.

that eric the car guy vid is awesome - but like he says - i am wary of sticking a chisel up there...but obviously your standard curved pry isn't going to work. i might run to my LTS and get a flat crow bar i can bang on....

OP - what did you end up doing?
