I have a 93 Accord LX, and I have oil leaking into my distributor. It's leaking from the bushing in the back of the housing. Can I fix this, or do I have to buy a new distributor housing? Here's a picture of it, if I have done this right. Any help would be appreciated.

The official story is that bushing/seal is not replacable. Have to buy a new distributor. Most years you can get one without coil & ignitor.

But someone around here has managed to replace it. I dont know any more that that. Search function for this site is messed up. Find a post by Finch13 & use the search from his signature.

 

autpartswarehouse.com has them for $15. It is called the distributor seal.

You have to take out the shaft/bearing to access. I think that you remove snap ring, and a pin to take out the key. You also unscrew some bolts that secure a plate to the housing. The shaft/bearing should slide out. Make sure that you put the key in the right way (and not 180 degrees off). Use whiteout to mark the key relative to the shaft before taking it apart.

I have replaced the distributor seal and it is easy. You can order the seal as stated previously. Here is a link to help out. The drawing kind of crude but it is not hard to do.

JTK's link is the key. I did this job recently and it went well, however I had a later problem w/ wiring harness damage due to aged wiring in the distributor. Look for any wiring faults and repair them when you re-assemble.

The seal requires a deep socket of correct size to bear on back side of seal and drive into distributor seat. Prelube seal and seat to help.

It's nice not to have oil continually dripping onto wiring harness and starter.

Okay. 1995 is listed as one of the tags, so here goes: does anyone know where to find the seal/bearing for the 1995 EX V6 AT model distributor? if not, does anyone know what the specifications are for the seal so I can go look for it? I really do not want to buy a new distributor if I can possibly avoid it:[
