Default E-Brake cable replacement?

I have a 95 Accord LX with rear drum brakes. The other day I pulled the brake lever, and it went all the way up with zero resistance. When I looked in the inspection hatch I saw that the passenger cable wasn't moving when I pulled the lever, and seemed to be seized at some point. So I pulled apart my passenger brakes and followed to cable to a bracket that had somehow bent itself to hell, and had completely kinked the cable. I removed the bracket, and the cable seems unsalvageable, but I can't seem to find any tutorials on the internet regarding replacing the cable, and any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

TL;DR: E-brake cable on 95 Accord LX seized, how do I replace it?

A new e-brake cable assy must be installed.

Disconnect old front end from beneath center console and intermediate supports under car. Disconnect rear end of cable from rear caliper brake assy. Reverse for installation.

Shop manual will help w/ pics and instructions. Check Online Manuals post in DIY forum for a 94-97 Accord Manual.

good luck

I have every part of the cable disconnected from the car except from the backing plate, where I can't seem to pull it out from the lever it is attached to, and tips or tricks involved?

See attached diagram. Note requires offset 12mm wrench to release from drum backing plate .

good luck

Pretty sure the "shoes" are going to have to come off to get enough room to slip the very end of the cable off the "lever" attached to the shoe.

Sorry I should've mentioned I already have the whole brake assy off, although I will try using a 12 mm in a bit and I'll see how it goes.

Sorry, I thought the shoes were still on.....since you are replacing the cable, just use wire cutters on the "clip" holding the cable to the backing plate....assuming the new cable has a new clip
