Electrical problem, or...? Help!
Hey Texas, so something happened that I didn't expect. I plugged the VSS in with the intention of testing the orange wire for signal voltage, and realized that my multimeter is still on boat on it's way home from a job I just did in Hawaii. Long story short, I didn't get to test it. However, just for fun I decided to try driving on it; previously I had just installed it, reset the computer, saw that it was still throwing the code, and uninstalled it, thinking it was bad. In any case, it works! Speedo works, trip works, and odometer work. Is the VSS supposed to drive anything else? I reset the computer by pulling the ECU fuse for about ten minutes, and it's still throwing the code. Any ideas on why it would still throw the code if it's working?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Failed ECU may be indicated. If cruise is working and D4 not flashing (no VSS Code 4), ECU is suspect.
If you confirm that ORN wire is intact (not shorted or open) from VSS to ECU, the ECU fault is likely
good luck

You mention ELD controlling alternator... I don't think that it does.
Alternator controls itself, by it's built-in voltage regulator.
ELD measurement allows the idle-control system to "anticipate" the extra load on the alternator when there's a surge in electrical use.
