Default exhaust smells of gas

id notice when istart my car id get a strong smell of gas (not eery single time) so is smell around and itd smell under car but pin pointed to the exhaust?
also on cold strts my car somtimes idles at 2000 for like 10secs than staya at normal idle? no chexk engine light. 1998 accord v6

Leaky injectors maybe. If they are somewhat stuck open then they will drip gas into the cylinders while sitting.

A good fuel injector cleaner wouldn't hurt.

And better yet (what I occasionally like to do) is take the injectors out and inspect/clean them off.

I agree!!! Sounds like you have 1 or more injectors leaking. This sounds crazy to a lot of people but I use transmission fluid for and injector cleaner. 1 quart to half a tank on a honda. I have been doing this since 2001 and have never had any issues. On diesels with oil activated injectors I put trans fluid in the oil as well. Transmission fluid has all of the detergents that is needed to prevent sticktion. You can pay $50 for some name brand crap or a few bucks for some trans fluid. I use Mercon V (5). No particular brand.
