Default F22A1 HeadGASKET HeLP!!

hi everyone new to the forums

I recently brought my girlfriends old honda that had been sitting for a few months to my place
she was told the headgasket needs replacment, it smoked bad and the idle was irratic, the breaks go to the floor and car is damn near impossible to stop

Ive removed all neccesary parts to pull the valve head off, it was going good too good, then i got 2 the 3rd to last head bolt and managed to stripe the bolt, i dont know what to do now, the only thing i can think is get sum over here to weld a socket to the bolt and try doing it that way??? i dont know any welders tho... if anyone has advice please let me know, its a real nice car id like to get it running

also the breaks, i saw a simliar post a few down and everyone was saying master cylinder, yet no one mentioned break booster, which one would more that likely be the problem???

Welcome to the forum!

If the head bolt is completely stripped try putting a pair of pliars on there and slowly pulling up as you rotate. Once you get it up a little ways put a wrench underneath the head and try to rotate it out and pull up as you do so you can get the bolt free.

Currently its reading 267,199 miles, tho im not sure if it has been rebuilt in the past, i wana say no

Ive managed to get the head off, the gasket has 2 small cracks in it that are visible, tho none of the cracks leads to the cylinder holes what does this mean, are all damaged head gaskets, damage visible to the eye????

And what are people experince with breaks that go to the floor, what are the odds it the master cylinder vs. the break booster???

thanksss

if brake pedal goes to floor...........IT IS NOT the booster ..........a bad booster would give you a hard brake pedal , no power assist ,,

it could be a leak on the line or hose, or the brake master cylinder leaking internally or externally ..

head gaskets almost never have visible damage, change it out and get a new head bolt. your brake problem is almost certainly the master cylinder, but not absolutely. a brake hose could have busted, but its not the booster. i have never heard of a booster going out on that model. honda sourced a product that would last forever for that job. now if it was an audi 5000cs turbo that would be a different story...lol
