I took the car to Advance Auto and they checked out the battery and alternator yesterday. The battery was fine and the alternator put out 13.82 volts and 66 amps. My headlights do not dim and the person testing said that would be a sign that the alternator was going so I guess it isn't...... We checked the battery cable connections and they were all very tight and had no corrosion on them. So, I still have the occasional flashing issue. I guess I can just ignore it. I am not sure what else to do.
BTW, when starting the car the battery light turns on solid when the key is first turned to the on position as it should. This leads me to believe that there is no physical connection problem right behind the dash light which was my other concern.

Well, the flashing/flickering battery light is becoming more frequent so I guess I will need to take a look at this rectifier and brush assembly. I am not near my Haynes manual right now, is the procedure difficult? Are the parts expensive or is a rebuilt alt about the same cost?
I looked at Majestic Honda and the rectifier is $153.00. At PartsTrain.com, I can get several completely rebuilt alternators for less than $161.00.
Has anyone had any luck with the rebuilt parts from PartsTrain?
