Default Gas cap light

How do I get my check gas cap light to turn off on my 2010 Honda Accord 2.4 liter? I already replaced the gas cap.

You can hold the negative and positive cable together for a few minutes. Just make sure they are disconnected from the battery first.

Take a look at replacing the Purge Control Valve.

It is a relatively common issue with 8th generation Accords. The indicator will usually go away in a day or two of driving.

Honda has technical publications regarding turning the gas cap at least 3 "clicks" after every fill-up.

If the problem persist even with turning the gas cap at least 3 clicks, it may due to something other than the gas cap.

I just went through this two weeks ago on my 07 and was wondering why it didn't reset. When I held the positive and negative cables together it cleared it. I only changed the gasket on the cap. You can also clear the warning with a more than mediocre OBD2 reader. Good to know it will clear after a couple days on its own.
