Hard start issues
My 93 Accord lx gave me 2 to 3 hard starts earlyone morning and again after school then finally would not start at work. I had it towed home. After looking at the plugs I decined they should be replaced. The car started up right away and I knew I had solved the problem. Two months later the problem is back and continues for the last 3weeks continually getting worse. Back then I went ahead and got Wires, cap & rotor. The car is totally stock and the plugs areNGKs manufacturer specs. I'm under theimpressionthat there is too much fuel going into to the cylinder for the plugs to igniteand if I pull them after 3 or 4 cranks there totally wet, but never before I crank.I thought it was a leakdown but changing 4 injectors was a waste. The fuel preasure regulator has no fuel in it so that tells me it should be ok.If I clean up the old plugs and put them in, the car starts immediatly.Someone told me that the car is smoking (but its realy cold here)and exhaust smells rich but I havn't tried tweeking any thing. The car never shuts off and runs well butits just not guaranteed to start when I shut it off. I've revereted to having an extra setof plugs in the car for when it dicides not to start.
Make sure that you are getting adequate spark to the spark plugs, since your plugs are wet when the car isn't starting. A timing light is useful to do this.
If you are getting too much fuel to the cylinder (either by high fuel pressure or injectors stuck open), then you need to get a fuel pressure gauge on there to eliminate the fuel pressure regulator. The injectors are opened by the ECU.

A quick check is whether theres any fuel in the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose. That would indicate a ruptured diaphragm in the FPR. If not, then you should still measure the fuel pressure.
Car may be running extremely rich and fouling plugs w/ excess fuel. Are plugs covered w/ soot and black? Is the exhaust black smoke? Any Check Engine Light?
Has O2 sensor ever been replaced. O2 sensor can deterioate and cause a rich condition. At some point the Check Engine Light should come on, but you might have problems before that.
good luck

hey fellas, i recently had my mechanic check out my car. i had him replace my oem spark plugs with a new set of ngk platinums he already had on him. he also checked out my timing with the timing light etc.
but i've noticed the past 2 days after i start my car there is excess white smoke coming from my exhaust with the smell of fuel. Anybody tell me what is going on?
