Head Replacement on 86 Accord
Hi, I bought my Accord about a year ago. At which time I did a tune-up, and found out that the plugs had been cross-threaded by the previous owner. I wanted to know what eveyone thought I should do. I can either replace it with a new or reconditioned used one. I might be able to retap the threads, but I don't really have a lot of experience retapping things. Or I could just leave it. (The plugs go in but not as far as they should and I don't know if any compression is being lost.) What do you guys think?
PS: My car is an 86 Accord LXi hatchback with PGM-FI.
Mileage: 137,000

there is a special tool for retapping from the inside threads to the outside;
It goes thru the plug hole then expands and retaps the threads from the good ones to the outer bad threads.
I feel your pain, those plug holes have a funny angle and people seem to strip out #1 and #4 most of all.
