Thanks PAhonda,

But where should I look for this cam sprocket once I take the valve cover off?

check the keyswitch, all it takes for that to go bad is corroded contacts or a loose wire, u might even be able to fix it urself without spending any cash. lots cheaper than a distributer.
-don't replace parts until u know waht the problem is, u will most likely just waste your money, trust me i learned this the hard way.

The cam sprocket is the sprocket that is to the right (driver's side) of the oil fill cap. There is a plastic guard over it and the timing belt.

Take off the valve cover and use a 19mm socket to turn the crankshaft bolt counter clockwise. (the bolt in the bottom big pulley that has both exterior belts on it). The crankshaft should turn the camshaft belt via the timing belt.

The voltage test is really simple for power to the distributor. Turn the key to the II position. You stick the red probe into the blk/yel part of the plug that feeds the distributor and you touch the black probe to ground (any metal part of the engine block). Your meter should read 12V (or the voltage of the battery if you have a low charge).
