Default Help please

My friend bought a used Honda with the following specs:

Honda Accord model: 2.2 EXI FULL-EXI FULL (14.22 CC) Year: 1994
CHASIS OR VIN: 1 H G C E 1 8 9 8 R A 0 0 5 1 1 0
MOTOR: F22B11466325

She is a elderly widow with a handicapped son and bought this because it was easy to get her son's wheel chair in and out of the vehicle.

The dealer and other repair shop now tell her that the transmission is bad, lthe carbuerator is bad and the engine is weak and needs an overhaul. I have driven the car and it has no major shakes or rattles and after about 200 miles of highway driving I felt no problems.

She can't afford the indicated repairs - your thoughts would be appreciated.

Carburator? On a 1994?

Where are you located?

Thought so - I am in Maldonado, Uruguay. The repair shop charged her $100 to look at the car and offered no guarantees on the total repair parts.
Are there similar issues with a 1994 Accord?

Although Honda does produces quality automobiles, all vehicles are machines which require regular maintenance.

Since you've driven the car, and (as you've stated) it seems to have no apparent issues, treat it as you would any other vehicle... change the oil, etc.

In the meantime, look around for a shop that you feel can be trusted
