Default Honda Accord, 2002, Transmission Slipping

Hi Guyz,

I too have same Problem, first let me brief about my car

It Honda accord - v4, 2002. 112000 Km

I bought the car at 75k ,at that time the car not even had the transmission changed, when i went to get my oil change done in Mr Lube, The guy advised, since it is over 6 year and 7O k, need to change the transmission oil. So i got it done/

After 104000, I started to Observe jerk a bit(slipping from 1st to 2nd ) so i spoke to Mr lube guy , adviced to get the transmission oil changed, So got it done, To my Surprise, the jerking immediately stopped. I thought , I saved big bucks.

During the first time in the morning when the engine is cold, It will be soo good to drive and once i am on drive on highway and local around 30 minutes roughly, the gears starts to slip from 1st - 2nd (when the Speed is around 20- 30 km), when i apply the brakes, the car jerks( like rebound)

I went to one independent mech to get his view, He said, It might be a problem with a solenoid, which might be creating, so it can be fixed by aroung 250 -300 , so i asked him to check for colour of my transmission oil and level, he said, its good not to worry,

So, I dont know what to do ? should i try to change the transmission oil again, as i have already done around 10 k back.. or it might be problem with my transmission.

Sorry for long Letter.

Any advice will be great help .

Thanks in advance
Dare.

Just as long as the lube dude only drained and refilled it, he didn't do much wrong. If he power flushed it that's bad. Honda transmission ONLY like Honda ATF-Z1 from the dealer, it has quite a different smell and and color than regular ATF.

Unfortunately, the 98-02 I4/V6 autos love to slip and fail and do all sorts of crazy stuff. I think you may be covered under the extended warranty by Honda if you're under 107,000 miles, not sure what the number of years are though.

Kilometers says that daregiri isn't in the USA. The extended tranny warranty may not exist elsewhere??

Hey what can I do to make my transmission last a long time? I just recently bought my 98 accord and it came with a rebuilt transmission. I drive it like a granny because in comparison to my supercharged crown vic its gutless and slow so there is no point to driving hard and I want mpg. In fact I have only floored it once and that was on the test drive to make sure everything was good. Anyway it has about 5k on the rebuild now and fluid looks perfect.

Keep the fluid clean by changing it. Drain/fill only, don't POWER-flush. Use actual Honda ATF, not Dexron.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord with only 70,000 miles on it. The transmission is slipping, my mechanic changed the shifter solenoid and changed the transmission fluid but it didn't fix the problem he is going to the junk yard and getting a used transmission and charging me $850.00 which is a great price. Thank God, there are still honest mechanics in the world.
