honda accord ex 02 automatic cruise control help
When i was driving to school the other day, I wanted to use the cruise control but there was a problem. When I press the cruise control on/off button it works,I set the speed so i press the cruise control set button and the light on the dashboard turns on saying cruise control in green letters but when I let go of the gas, the cruise control doesnt maintain the speed. So i was going about 70mph at 2500 rpms and when i set the cruise control i let go of the gas the speed decreases to about 60mph and then the engine pulls, so it was going about 60mph now with 4500 rpms and the engine was trying to get back up to 70mph but it was over 4000rpms. and if i press cancel the cruise control light turns off.
I know where the cruise control is located but i dont know what to look for or how to check if it needs replacement or what the problem is.
Does anyone have any idea why its doing that, and how to fix it?
Your help is appreciated
Thanks!!...

Just wanted to make sure, because on my friend's accord, I could pull out the cable easily from a broken plastic piece. It wasn't obvious that it was broken. Just try lightly pulling the CC cable at the TB and see if it opens the throttle plate.
The next thing you will need to do is to check the input at the cruise control unit (under the dash near the steering wheel). Hopefully you have a volt meter and know how to use it. The images are for a 98-02 shop manual you can get from the spooner link in the online manuals thread in the DIY section, and covers a lot of different 98-02 accords (europe, japan, etc).
Hopefully the wire colors are the same on your accord.

Look at the pictures I attached.
You need to unplug the connector at the cruise control unit. Do the test condition for the specified wire (push brake pedal, etc). Use the volt meter to figure out if you got the desired result on the proper pin.
Most of them require checking for voltage (which is the easiest function to learn). Some want you to test for continuity to ground (~zero resistance). Do those first. Found this site via google, and should give you some basics on a volt meter.

Some of the want you to connect power and/or ground which will require jumping the pins. Do this with the Ignition switch turned off. The #4 pin (blk/yel) will give you 12V (if it tested good in your first round of tests) when you turn the key on. The #3 pin (blk) is ground.
So if it asks you to supply 12V to pin 9, you would connect a wire between pin 3 and pin 9.
Does this make any sense?
You can pick up a volt meter at walmart for ~$10 that is analog (has a needle that moves). Digital ones are probably 15-20 and are a bit easier to use. Either one will work.

yea it does make sense but it i need to get a volt meter...also i noticed that when u set the cruise control well on a car that does work... when u set the cruise control you kinda feel the pedal that pushes in by itself to maintain the speed. on my honda it doesnt do that and if it does it only pushes itself a little bet and it just releases itself again
