Default 2000 Accord LX Cruise Control help needed please

The Cruise Control mail switch works and after pushed in will allow you to "Set" the Cruise on the steering wheel, you can feel the gas pedal being "taken" control of but it only last a split second. In that second the Cruise Contol light comes on in the dash to the left of the speedometer, but thens goes off right away. Maybe on one second if that long. But then if you try to do anything with any of the controls/switches on the steering wheel, nothing... The CC light will NOT come back on or anything else will work with any of those switches.
You have to push in the Main Switch again and turn it OFF and then ON again before anything will work and then it is only the same thing that will happen. The CC light comes on in the dash after you push the set button on the steering wheel but then it will not take control but you feel it first try to then it turns off. It acts like the Brake Light switch is bad. I ordered one from an online dealer but before I installed it, I check continunity with the meter and it checked out the same as the one that I took out.
Ther is suppose to be continuity between 1-2 and 3-4 when released/depressed. It doesn't match up to the diagram that is in the manual. It does show that like this...
1 2
3 4 1-4 depressed and 3-2 released
it is supposed to be 1-2 depressed and 3-4 released or vice versa whatever... but it shows what I mean...
Plus there was no issue with it not starting or coming out of Park. It was drivng fine... just no CC...
Please give me some direction in troubleshooting this so I can get it repaired...
I have it all taken apart still and I am hoping for a response so I am leaving it so until I can get some replies to get this done...
thanks very much for all replies...
