Hood won’t latch

Default Hood won’t latch

So I been trying figure out why I can’t seem to figure out why my hood won’t latch on my 1998 Honda Accord v4 Ex any body know how to fix it ?

Have you looked at the latch? Is it moving like it supposed to be if not grease it up. Maybe take it off if something is stuck in it and get it out. Is the hood aligned properly? If all else fails go to the junkyard and buy a new to you latch.

Keep in mind that the cable might have a kink in it, not allowing the latch to close and latch. My 99 did that before I replaced the cable in it. I want to say that someone else on here ran into that same issue.

Just signed in and found this while looking for a photo to send my daughter who is out with an unlatched hood. I've had this issue with my 1998 Accord for years. There's an L-shaped lever on the left side top of the latch assembly that sometimes gets stuck slightly elevated. Retracted, it should be parallel to the ground. Just take your thumb and press firmly down on it to help the cable retract and reset the latch. Hope this helps someone.
