honda accord 4 dr 1997 vtec 2.2l. just installed a tranny with 5k miles and a luk clutch...everything else is stock. looking for the best performance increases with the least amount of money involved. any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

Intake, Header, Exhaust. Those are the basics. If you want the most for your money, just go ahead and swap in an H22. 200hp as opposed to 145(?) for your car as is. Its not cheap, but its the most horsepower per dollar.

 

Swaps are great, but you can easily spend many thousands between all the necassary mods involved. I would keep that motor and do a "home-made" turbo kit deal. Maybe spend $2000 tops and have 235+ HP at the crank. It will take some homework, but there are plenty of posts to get you started. You can find most of them way back in the turbo section. lightshow had a great post with a list of everything you need to make an inespensive, piece by piece turbo kit. I built a kit for my car and I've had no regrets!
