SOLD IT. I'd had a '93 Accord LX 5sp for 5 yrs, been a good car. comfy to drive, too. 235,000 miles.
My son needed a car last month on urgent basis, so he's buying it from me for $75/month.

Darn that was a good car. So I'm looking for a replacement and I see the exact twin, even same color,
only an EX with sunroof/ABS/4 wheel disc brakes - 1992 @ 201,500 miles.
Impeccably maintained, I bought it and it's virtually the exact same car I sold 3 weeks ago, only better.

Almost like a brand new 20 yr old car at 201,500 miles:
wonderful tires w/ 8/32 of tread, CD radio, 3500 miles into a new timing belt / water pump, 5sp tranny.
Appears to be a newer master cylinder. No under engine drips or leaks, it's dry. Checked the manual tranny fluid, it's full and clean.
Radiator fluid is bright green. CV boots are good. No rust, as in no rust. Trunk doesn't leak water. I plan to keep car for a long time.

** Only one thing, engine speed oscillation on warm-up, same symptoms as in my former '93 which has it much worse, is that on warm up once you touch the gas pedal it starts idle oscillation for about 45 seconds (until it seems to get beyond a certain temp?). Does anybody know what this is likely to be due to? If my son's '93 were here I'd video clip it on start/warm up to demo it (rapid movement between 1700-2200 rpm for 45 seconds).

Also, my other son's '86 Prelude (228,000 miles) does it big time even when it's warmed up - so it must be a high mileage Honda thing.

Surely several somebodies must have had this situation and fixed it. Thanks.

 

You might want to open up the FITV valve on the intake manifold and clean it out. Then tighten the spring assembly until it is snug (do not over tighten).

Search the forum for FITV idle and you should find some threads on the location.

There is also a link in the common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum for FITV cleaning. This is for a 94-97 accord. The procedure is similar, but the location of the valve on your car is much easier to access.

 

Wow! That brings back memories. They don't make floor mats like that anymore. When I would take the floor mats out of my 92, they were so thick, they would stay the shape of the floorboard. The floor mats in my 03 certainly don't do that. My 92 had the same color interior. Only differences are the exterior color (I had Rosewood Brown) and it was an automatic. That car is in fabulous shape, I'm jealous.
