immobilizer problem 2003
03 Honda accord ex, green key symbol flashing. Had locksmith come out two days and could not get even a new key to program. If the imobolizer at key ignition was bad could it keep you from programming key and can I replace the imobolizer at the ignition and lock Smith be able to program keys at that time?

This is quite different than the original thread, so I moved it to it's own thread.
The immobilizer is in the PCM; what's located at the ignition key cylinder is the antenna to pick up the chip inside the key. You can check electrical connections from that antenna back to the PCM, and/or replace the antenna. I don't know how you'd figure out if the antenna is the problem, vs. the actual immobilizer component in the PCM.
Do you have any other keys on the same key ring? Any metal objects touching the key? Use your car key all by itself to see if that helps. (probably won't help but it's free & painless to try)
