Question inaccurate speedometer readings

I suspected that my speedometer has an inaccurate reading because
everyone is passing me on the highway so I had to investigate...
so I grabbed my gps and found that it's 3-4mph faster when Im doing 40mph and 4mph slower when Im traveling on the highway at 60mph+ and 75 when doing 80mph its really kind of off on every number.

How can I fix this? Please any help is good for me

I just wanted to check that you have the stock tire size.

I guess that either your vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is putting out the wrong signal, or your speedometer's calibration is off. I am not sure if the speedometer can be recalibrated or if a flaky speed sensor can cause this problem.

i was told that the vss would not be the problem because its working but just not an accurate reading, said if it wasn't working it would not show how fast im traveling at all...that the problem is somewhere in the cluster something needs to be calibrated?
any ideas
also where is it located so i can take it out and clean it just want to try anything before i put the new part in $154 so i want to try all my options first

The VSS is on the transmission. It is towards the firewall way below the distributor.

You may want to get a VSS from a junkyard or used on Ebay (much cheaper) and try it to see if you still get the faulty speedometer reading.

Copy and paste the link below for some good information on the VSS.

On most older Hondas the speedometer were a little off, within 5 mph from the actual speed; so, your car is pretty similar to your generation. Only in the latest Hondas are they pretty much spot on. I wouldn't spend money to try to "fix" it on the older Hondas, as it may be a fruitless effort while costing money and time. There are people that asked similar questions regarding their older Hondas on other Honda forums, and the consensus is that most older Hondas' speedometer reading were a little off, generally showing slower than actual.

My previous 95 Accord read about 4-5 mph less than readings from road sign radars. My 2009 Accord is pretty much spot on and matches my Garmin GPS.
